Motivation

This is a documentation for SI 612 Pervasive Interaction Design course. In this course we are going to explore the field of IoT and design a product that can make our target user group’s lives easier in the specific environment. We are at the very beginning of this project. In Milestone 1, we are planning to have some initial thoughts and narrow down to focus on the problems we want to solve.

Ideation Process

We first created a shared folder and put all our idea documents inside the folder to take a brief look on each other’s ideas before the meeting.

We also created a Miro board to assist our ideation process.

First of all, we listed out all our interested IoT areas and wrote them down on the sticky notes inside the Miro board and then voted for the two areas that all of us are most interested in.

Then, we started to further narrow down and brainstormed solutions in each area thinking about user groups, design goals and solutions. We also wrote them down on the sticky notes. After that, we set up several criteria to vote for 2-3 solutions in each area that are feasible, interesting, and possible to expand in the future.

Concepts

Finally, we came up with five concepts and thought about user groups we wanted to target at, design goals, ideas and solutions, and several sketches.
